Tragic Loss: Loyola Tennis Star Braun Levi Dies at 18

On May 4, 2025, 18-year-old Loyola High School tennis star Braun Levi was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Manhattan Beach. Just days earlier, Levi had celebrated becoming the nation’s top-ranked boys’ tennis player and winning his fourth consecutive Mission League doubles title.

The driver, 33-year-old Jenia Belt, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and manslaughter. Her license had been suspended due to a prior DUI incident.

Levi, known for his leadership, humility, and vibrant personality, had overcome family hardship and was set to attend the University of Virginia. His death devastated the Loyola community, prompting a candlelight vigil and widespread tributes.

Levi is survived by his parents and sister. He is remembered as a gifted athlete, beloved friend, and inspiring presence.
