After four years of living in what many call the conservative haven of Texas, YouTube star and conservative firebrand Blaire White has announced she’s packing her bags and returning to the very state she once fled: California.
White, 31, became a vocal critic of her home state in 2021, leaving behind her Hollywood life amid what she described as “tyrannical” COVID-19 restrictions, rampant crime, and a surge in homelessness. Like many others during the pandemic, she sought refuge in Austin, Texas — a city that’s become a magnet for political refugees, entrepreneurs, and cultural renegades alike.
But now, the influencer — known for her sharp political takes, viral commentary, and appearances on shows like The Joe Rogan Experience, Dr. Phil, and Infowars — is making a stunning U-turn.
In a candid YouTube video this week, Blaire opened up about her decision to return to the Golden State, calling it “home, for better or worse.”
“There are a lot of problems with California,” she acknowledged, “and a lot of people like to just write it off. They say, ‘Let it burn,’ or ‘It’s a lost cause.’ But I don’t think that’s a very American way to look at it.”
Born in Chico, White called California “the most beautiful place in the world” — and lamented that such beauty is now overshadowed by failed leadership. “It’s even more of a shame because it’s so beautiful,” she said. “It’s run by demons.”
And yet, instead of turning her back on it, Blaire says she wants to be part of the solution.
“Los Angeles has become ghetto and downtrodden, sure,” she said. “But I don’t want to be someone who runs from problems. I want to be someone who faces them head-on.”
She described her original move to Texas as an “evacuation” triggered by COVID lockdown trauma — a crisis response, not necessarily a permanent lifestyle shift. But after four years in Austin, the city hasn’t fully felt like home.
Now, with her eyes toward the future, Blaire hinted at even bigger ambitions.
“I want to get involved politically in California,” she said. “I’m not ruling out running for office someday. But for now, I want to be an active voice in the conversation.”
Her return mirrors a growing — if surprising — trend. Several high-profile content creators who made the leap to red states during the pandemic have quietly returned to the blue coasts.
Among them was comedian Tim Dillon, who followed Joe Rogan to Austin in 2020 only to bolt back to L.A. months later. “It’s a horrible city without a soul,” Dillon bluntly said of Austin in a podcast interview. “It’s three heroin addicts busking with guitars… There’s zero talent here in any capacity.”
In another podcast, he added: “Austin can’t be compared to New York or Los Angeles. It’s not even in the same conversation.”
As America’s internal migration continues, with countless families and creators relocating from states like California and New York to places like Florida, Texas, and even Montana, Blaire White’s decision stands out. She’s not returning for comfort — she’s returning for battle.
“I didn’t leave California to abandon it forever,” she said. “I left because it was broken. And maybe now it’s time to help fix it.”
Whether she ends up in politics or continues her mission as a digital disruptor, one thing is clear: Blaire White isn’t done with California. Not yet.
