Three members of the University of Wyoming swimming and diving team—Carson Muir, 18, of Alabama; Charlie Clark, 19, of Nevada; and Luke Slabber, 21, of South Africa—died in a car accident near the Wyoming-Colorado border. The crash occurred at the intersection of Red Mountain Road and U.S. Highway 287 when their Toyota RAV4 veered off the road and rolled multiple times, ejecting two passengers.

Two other teammates were injured but later released from the hospital. Authorities say the cause is still under investigation, with no factors yet ruled out. Though all five were on the swim team, they were not traveling for school-related purposes.

University President Ed Seidel and Athletics Director Tom Burman expressed deep sorrow, while counseling support has been offered to students. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon also shared condolences. The loss has left the university and wider community mourning the sudden and heartbreaking tragedy.
