Before cutting ties with her famous dad, Wilson attended elite schools, including a private school in Bel-Air and Ad Astra, the SpaceX-founded school her father created. Ad Astra was unconventional, with no grades and a focus on STEM classes. She later transferred to Crossroads in Santa Monica, where she graduated from a class she describes as full of “nepo babies.”
Reflecting on her teenage years, Wilson admitted, “I was not popular, I didn’t talk to anyone.”
She came out as transgender at 16, and after turning 18 in 2022, her relationship with Musk deteriorated further.
Despite her privileged upbringing, she has embraced a life independent of her father’s wealth. “I fought so hard for so long to be viewed as a regular person. There was a moment literally right before I became famous where no one knew who I was. It was amazing. Everyone treated me as a regular person. I kind of miss that. But I also like being famous,” she said.
