Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson, has cut ties with her billionaire father.
Now, she’s opening up about her life away from the spotlight.
Vivian Wilson, Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, has made headlines for her candid take on life after cutting ties with the world’s richest dad. The 21-year-old has insisted she’s financially independent — and far from living the billionaire lifestyle people assume she’s inherited.
“People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” Wilson told The Cut. “My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one [Musk] … is unimaginable degrees of wealthy.”
Lives with 3 roommates
Rather than chasing wealth like her father, Wilson has embraced a more grounded lifestyle. She currently shares a home with three roommates because it’s “cheaper” and focuses on saving where she can.
“I don’t have a desire to be superrich,” she said. “I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles.”

Despite being the eldest of Musk’s 14 children, she says her priorities are very different from the billionaire tech mogul. Wilson is now planning to enroll at a community college to continue studying languages after dropping out of her Japanese studies in Japan.
