Donald Trump’s second state visit to the UK is quite different. Firstly, there is a new monarch on the throne, as the President of the United States and First Lady Melania Trump now bowed to King Charles, and not the late Queen Elizabeth.
Trump arrived in the UK late Tuesday, spending the night at Windsor Castle, before being greeted by Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, on Wednesday. Trump has held private meetings with King Charles, who officially invited the president to visit with a letter back in July.
The ceremony welcoming Trump, described as a crucial diplomatic and political event, also featured a military procession, a Red Arrows flyover, and a state banquet. When Donald Trump performed his first state visit in June 2019, one incident became somewhat symbolic.
