He looked torn, caught between disbelief and the nagging suspicion that there might be merit to my words. Sarah stepped forward, her hand on Mark’s arm. “If there’s even a chance that this wasn’t an accident, we owe it to Anna to find out.”

Her support seemed to bolster Mark’s resolve. He nodded, albeit reluctantly. “Okay, I’ll talk to the police. But we need to be prepared for them to say there’s nothing they can do.”
