At the wedding, my mother-in-law grabbed the mic, sneering with malice

“My dear Ivy,” she started, her small voice carrying over the hushed crowd. “If you are reading this, it means someone has forgotten what it means to love unconditionally. It saddens me that anyone would try to cloud our day with negativity, especially when love should be the only focus.”

Dolores shifted uncomfortably at the head table, her gaze locked onto the letter that was about to expose her own imperfections. The room remained silent, every eye glued to the little girl standing confidently with the microphone.

Ivy continued, “Love isn’t about perfection or spotless pasts. It’s about two people coming together to build a future with understanding and compassion. Your mother is one of the strongest people I know, and strength comes from overcoming, not from having an unblemished past.”

I felt a tear slide down my cheek as I listened to the words Marcus had penned. I turned to him, finding his eyes filled with warmth and reassurance. His hand squeezed mine gently, promising that we were in this together.
